Getting Real – Experiment Time | Augustinus Bader 27-Day Challenge

It’ll take a miracle to help these puffy, crepey eyes.

So this post is a bit different. I’m embarking on the cult Augustinus Bader 27-day skincare challenge. The premise is simple: Use only the Augustinus Bader signature, award winning, anti-ageing cream for 27 days and watch your skin repair itself. And since I’ve ordered both The Cream (for day) and The Rich Cream (for night), and they arrive today, what better time to tell you about what I am hoping will be an exciting skincare experiment.

WHO is Augustinus Bader: University Professor Dr. Augustinus Bader is one of the world’s leading stem cell and biomedical scientists, and the originator of a breakthrough medical treatment that activates and orchestrates the body’s innate regenerative processes.
WHAT’s “special” about Augustinus Bader clean products, specifically his famous creams: TFC8®, bring an innovative approach to skincare. Supporting the body’s innate renewal processes, they help to visibly reduce the signs of ageing and damage caused by environmental stressors, and leave skin looking restored, regenerated and glowing with health. “By design, it has everything you need to effectively replace your current skincare products; including the brand’s proprietary ‘Trigger Factor Complex,’ a result of Bader’s 30 years of research in regenerative skincare. It also features avocado oil, which is rich in fatty acids, and vitamin E.” (The Zoe Report)
HOW it works: “Your skin replenishes itself every 27 days. Dead skin cells are sloughed off and new cells come to the surface — it’s an ideal period of time to determine the efficacy of a product or regimen,” he says. It’s also the ideal period of time to allow your skin to regulate and resume its natural functions.

Okay so I get it. Skin cells turn over every 27 daysish, so this is basically a fast for your skin. And the marketing? Well, that’s where Bader gets the most hype. With Victoria Beckham intimately attached to the brand, celebrities and beauty editors from every.major.publication have praised this “miracle” cream for a couple of years now as the way to get “rich person skin.” I am less interested in the “rich person skin” part and more interested in the fact that writer, model, and fashionite Alexa Chung swears by it. And if this means I have any shot at Alexa Chung low-maintenance skin, I’m all in.

There are so many reviews on Bader’s products I decided I just needed to find out for myself if this is lives up to it’s “biggest thing in skincare since La Mer” reputation. Also, this cream is NOT cheap. But in premise, if you can streamline your routine to include the minimum number of products, or even just the cream, then BAM, that’s exciting. It’s skincare minimalism that works (fingers crossed!)…at least, we are going to find out.

Day 1 – August 22

What I consider success:

  • Any improvement in sun damage and hyperpigmentation, specifically discoloration around the mouth
  • Softening of wrinkles and fine lines
  • And please, help even a little with firming up the skin around my eyes

So here it is, this is the starting point. ROUGHHH. I’ve got nothing on my skin as my creams have not arrived just yet. Oh, and I’ve got some extra work to do as my eyes are so puffy since I did not sleep well last night and have been up since 3:30. Here goes nothing!

Curious? Well stay tuned for an update each week on this Augustinus Bader journey!
