From runway shows with masked attendees to creative livestream and video presentations, Milanโ€™s Spring/Summer 2021 shows thus far have been a welcomed treat amongst the turbulence of the ongoing pandemic. Although fall has just begun, Lโ€™OFFICIEL isย already looking forward to the warmer days awaiting us next year. Here, the stand out Spring/Summer 2021 trends from the top shows from the Italian capitalโ€™s week of fashion.

UNCONVENTIONAL KNITS

For Spring/Summer 2021, designers presented options wildly different yet just as unique: some with intricate needlework and embellishments, others with attention-grabbing prints. There were even different variations of the same styles: Pradaโ€™s distressed sweaters were adorned with carefully-placed holes, while Marniโ€™s were perfectly rugged.

MATCHING SETS

Since the heydays of Coco Chanel and Azzedine Alaรฏa, matching sets are nothing new, but todayโ€™s designers have kept them going strong. Spring/Summer 2021 runways modernized them by experimenting with different types of layeringโ€”like Sportmaxโ€™s combination of sheer and opaqueโ€”and silhouettesโ€”whether going the structured route of Alberta Ferrettiโ€™s floral three-piece or the free-flowing route of Emporio Armaniโ€™s monochrome asymmetrical cami and pants.

PEEK-A-BOO BRAS

Whether playing with neons like Versace or opting for an elegant black bra like Dolce and Gabbana, many were nodding to early โ€˜00s style for Spring/Summer 2021 by showing some skin.
